Yann Tiersen and his fine band live at the excellent Concorde 2 club on Brighton seafront. Recorded on a Sharp stereo minidisc recorder with a small Sony stereo microphone. Very good sound throughout.

Never heard of Yann Tiersen? You really should give this a go; he's a genius. Probably best known for the soundtracks to the movies 'Amelie' and 'Goodbye Lenin', but heÕs made several albums in a similar, Ôsoundtrack-eyÕ style; all of them fantastic. HeÕs French, so heÕs big in France, obviously, and the rest of Europe, although still a bit of a cult here in the UK. HeÕs also big in Latin America and recently completed a US tour at Irving Plaza in New York City.

If youÕre familiar with the albums (with the exception of 'On Tour') then this might surprise you. The records are mellow, beautiful and mostly instrumental. These days, on tour, he rocks like a bastard. Some of this is a wall of powerful guitar noise. Some of it is unbelievable violin virtuosity. All of it is brilliant. Sadly, he didnÕt bring his accordion to Brighton this time.

The total time comes in at just under 90 minutes, so I would suggest a good break point is after track 7. There is a quiet point there and it means disc one finishing beautifully with 'Sur Le Fil', including a moment, at about 2m20s, where the lead falls out of his violin.

IÕm afraid I donÕt know the titles of all the songs and IÕd be grateful for any help on that front. IÕm fairly confident with those I have identified.

Enjoy the show
