This was broadcast live on 3FM Dutch public radio on this date. I have been asking around for this for a friend who was there (I saw a seed on Dime way back in 2005), until one day he said: "I have an old cassette with that recording." D'oh ... ok, search ended but work added.
Here is the result of said work.
Lineage: unknown recorder > 1st gen no name brand cassette, type I (FE) > playback Akai GX32 deck (no NR) > Line in > Adobe Audition 1.5 (96kHz/32bit float) > fixes, fades, flips, tracking, normalising > Goldwave conversion to 96kHz/24bit > TLH > Flac (L6) > Dime
As i said an alternate capture of this was on the tracker in 2005, but I have had no luck requesting a reseed. So since I was putting this to disk for my friend, I thought I might just as well put it out here.
Fixes:
- added fade in before track 1
- Tape flip in DJ chatter at 47:21 fixed (no chat missing due to tape side 1/2 overlap)
- slight cut in "Amsterdam" at 51:29 (not a tape flip but on the tape itself, a few secs of music missing?)
- added fade out at end.
I have decided to not tamper with the sound (although for my taste the low end could use a bit of a boost) and leave this recording as intact as possible, by leaving the DJ chat in there. For those of you in the NL radio reception area.. it's GIEL!
That said... this is not the greatest FM recording you have ever heard, but the fact that this was on the tracker 4-5 years ago and not since lead me to think I would put this out for you all anyway.
Coldplay being far from my usual niches, I will not say anything about the performance. I will just post a few samples :) As for the setlist, I have grabbed this from a fansite and tried to track accordingly.
This is the first analog>digital conversion I did since I started my Dime adventure .. I hope I did a decent job at least.
I will post a 16/44.1 version as soon as I get this one up to more than just me seeding.
Total runtime: 53:53.
