although by this time Pearl Jam was supposed to be touring "vitalogy", their 3rd album,
the album's release was delayed, so this was still a tour of "vs." and includes songs from (mostly)
just the 1st two PJ albums. this recording was made on DAT, then put to CD, copied to another CD
and the extracted from DC to WAV for some loud clap reduction before flaculation for torrentation.
the spring 1994 PJ tour was the Eastern U.S. part of the later 93 "vs." tour that was in the western
U.S. Pearl Jam played 2 shows at Boston Garden and 2 more at the Orpheum Theater in April of 1994.
the second of the Garden shows has a couple of songs included in a MTV special. this is the
1st of the 4 Boston shows. right about the time Nirvana (Pearl Jam's archrival in rock business
from 1992-93) hit an interior landmine, Pearl Jam was achieving heights never before seen by an
"alternative" or "grunge" rock band, basically establishing themselves as the King Midas of
alternative music, since "ten" and "vs." were both hugely popular. although already one of the
"supergroups" of the 1990's, Pearl Jam never had the big egoes of a supergroup, and even boycotted
Ticketmaster for ticket price gouging (including this tour) and made several of their live shows
officially available for a comparatively reasonable cost.
this recording has very little in the way of bass frequencies, and there are occasional comments
and yells, but not too many and nothing especially annoying (most of that is between the songs).
the first disc appears to be all up to the encores, since there is a long applause section
(a little over a minute is long in concert time) at the end of track 15, and a fadeout.
track 16 starts with applause fade in, other than that, the rest is seamless and nothing seems
to be cut or missing from this fine show. thanks to Darren for recording and sharing this show.
I don't know what mikes he used, not the greatest ones, but probably into a Sony DAT recorder.
I recieved it on 3 CD's along with some other unidentified tracks, which sounded like a completely
different recording and performance, so I removed both from my own copy and this posting.
all of these tracks appear to be from the same recording source/taper location and audio qualities,
that and the length of the show and setlist confirm this is all from the same 4/10/1994 show. the
1994 Pearl Jam shows typically ran about 2 hours, as this does, and the quality percentage of good
songs/performances was pretty good in this tour, maybe a little better than average in this show.
