Ron's notes about the gear: The equipment utilized for this show is as follows: (2) AKG 451's, Sonic Studios DSM06 mics, Boss BX-4 mixer mixed into stereo at 90%/10% ratio into a Sony TCD-D7 DAT. Seated in far front of 100 level, 20 rows up, right of stage.
My note--Ron had his TCD-D7 DAT deck modded by Leonard Lombardo of Sonic Studios. I believe it was the MOD2.
Leonard posted this on Tapersection: So from about 93-94' onward, Sonic Studios did all MOD-2/3 mic powering Sony deck upgrades on D7/8/100 and M1 DAT models so that DSM mics could be directly deck mic-input powered with no mic performance issues. MOD-2/3 upgrades did have a secondary effect of reducing input noise by 1-2 dB, but this improvement was mostly not audible or advertised.
