My favorite. Reduced the counts and shaker clicks. Some songs have more than others. I did not erase them all but pretty low in the mix on most songs.
Not perfect but very enjoyable to listen to.

First, I am not Sharebear, He is very gifted and the more I dove into this project, the more respect I have for his talent. I am not
a "master" and I do not have "AI" and all of the new up to date software [note: Sharbear's "stem feed" upload is amazing... WOW someday
to have the software, computer power and skills to separate and remix the tracks as well as editing them.] So I am using what I have
available to me. Please keep in mind this is a rewarding hobby, and it is my pleasure to share with other U2 fans. That said I really
enjoyed learning some more advanced editing techniques. Thank you to all of the tapers, past and present, as I look forward to hearing
a new show or a show from a new recording source. Your uploads always brighten my day!
7 years in the making (holy cow has it been that long) so I hope you enjoy! A few of us "tapers" were together surrounded by noisy fans..
screams, whistle and clapping... did I say clapping aurghhh. So why it took so long to get this to you.. Here is the process during my
free time from work - kids- family and listening to new shows uploaded to U2 torrents, Dime, Traders Den, and yes U2 start.
I wanted to do a matrix and I wanted to find the best aud / iem combo for the best sound. I started by picking a 45 second clip from my
IEM , SS-D8 and my friends aud recordings. I did a 45 second sample, edit, time aliened ea "track" and made many mini matrix combo's;
including an aud matrix with different % proportions. I also experimented with different ratios per left and right channels. After
these were done I made over 20 matrixes with my new aud creations / IEM combinations. I picked my favorites and did a sample test with
some friends. Because the IEM is in mono, I / we determined the pure left / right channel aud spit was the best. I was standing to the
left side of Bill, so I used my left channel from my recording and his right channel from his recording. It is also interesting how
the mics have a different sound. The SS having more bass and the CS having a better high end. This sonically gives a more surround
sound feel when listening to with head phones.
Bill's recorder split the show into 3 master tracks at 96/24. Using Cool edit pro I converted them to 44.1/16 and combined them onto
one master wav file. I then used COOL Edit (spectral and wav view) to select ea track and save as highlighted. I had to make sure ea
track started and ended at the same time... getting as close to .000 of a second as possible. After Splitting 3 recording into 66 tracks
it was time to edit them. I used cool edit pro and started some a basic edits. After round one, I installed izatope RX5. WOW what great
software. I took 6 months and edited other shows and started to lean how to use the advanced features. Ready to start again. I did one
song at a time x 3 sources. I did my first round of edits. Then went back and listed to and edited the left channel. Then the right
channel. Then both again. In many cases I manually removing claps screams, IEM static. I also had to try and manually remove the crew
talking, "one two three band and one one one" I also did some light EQ and well as taking a sound envelope of edge guitar and upping the
sound a db, used the de-noise and lowered some the counting shaker/clicks. I could not take them all out. I did not want to
effect the IEM hi end and remove the tom toms and drum symbols. ( note: after the DRY mix, I did get a little more aggressive with
this process because I was doing a 42/57 mix I had the symbols from the aud recordings... and even more aggressive in the 80% aud mix)
I normalized each track to 98% so they would be the same when mixing them in the future. Once completed, I copied my right aud channel and pasted
it to BH left channel. Then zoomed in spectral view to make sure they lined up. Of-coarse the did not and many adjustments were made.
Harder than one would think. Stereo recording; the left and right sound from the speakers hit our mics at slightly different times and each
recorder has a slightly different speed. Because the IEM is in Mono, the AUD L-R had to match up for the time alignment for the matrix would
be off. I then listened to and edited this newly formed track. After I finished the 66 tracks, 3 years later .. My izatope process was getting
better and I learned a few more editing techniques. I went back and re-listened to all of the tracks again and made some more adjustments! I
basically repeated the time alignment process with the L-R aud / IEM file. I copied one of the aud tracks and pasted into the left channel
of the IEM track and zoomed in to confirm they matched. Made adjustments to IEM.. "repeat and rinse" until I was satisfied the entire song
lined up. On one track the recorder did a "skip" when recording; somewhere in the track I was off by .019 - .023 seconds. If I aligned
the first part the song the 2nd 1/2 of the song as off. If I time stretched the song it was off. Took a day or two to find the exact
spot(s) where the glitch(s) occurred and had to be corrected. I had 2 glitches in the song. One might think that .020 is not a lot of
time...trust me as I was off my .009 seconds once and you could hear if when listening to the matrix. Once completed, using soundforge,
I did more matrix tests to see what sounds best. [I took Sharebears idea and created a DRY - GOLD- WET versions.] I took the new
matrix I made and listened to it again, did some slight EQ / click adjustments. YEAH.
Not finished yet... I wanted to make sure the volume levels and track were correct when played together. I copied track 2 and pasted
at the end of track one , adjusting to make sure the were no transition flaws. Save. Took the next track and pasted on the end :
repeat... I used EAC to re-track the large files. Walla
Burned to a disc and listened on a good car stereo ( my wife's car)-, crap car stereo ( my 2009 peace of - - - - dump run car), computer
speakers, Great headphones and poor iphone ear buds. Tweaked a few song here and there and on a track or two, redid the matrix.
In some cases the sound on some songs are not a crisp with the poor quality speakers... other than stating the obvious better sound
with better quality gear.. I was not sure if it is possible to adjust of the freq to put less strain on the speaker drivers and have
the same sound. I read an article where Areosmith remastered some their LP's so they sounded better on walkmans with weaker headphones
So I used Har-Bal and compared the "spec" to one of Sharebears A+ recording and made another adjustment :-) I think it did the trick.
Improved the sound on all sources - and sounds great with my hi end headphones.
Used TLH fixed and confirm no SBE issues.
Created disc 1 and disc 2 and used FLAC Fronted level 8
ENJOY!
So positive feed-back please as I always want to learn, so helpful tips are welcome. If IEM's are not for you - then no not download.
Please share for free .. Do not sell... Karma can be a good or bad so do the right thing and make someone day.
If converted to lossy mp3.. please label as such so people know what they are getting.
Thanks
Dana
